The Best $5 You Can Spend on your Media Center: USB Extension Cord

If your Mac mini is tucked away in a dark media rack like mine (see above), nothing is more aggravating than having to blindly fish around the back of your Mac mini in a weak attempt to connect a USB cable/thumbdrive/etc. You don’t know if your cable is facing the right way, you can’t see if you are properly lined up with the port and hell, it’s connecting a cable, not rocket science! I received very short USB extension with some product way back when and it has been one of the best add-ons I’ve ever used with my Media Center. The best part, they are CHEAP! There is a size for everyone depending on your setup, from just a few inches to over six feet, so no matter what you are trying to connect to your computer you can do it without having to reach into the digital darkness that is your media cabinet! I like these little guys so much I even have one on my iMac (see below for additional pic) so I don’t have to turn my computer around to connect an external hard drive. Genius!
